The puzzle: how many times does the word “Cthulhu” appear in the square? There is more than one correct answer, depending on what rules you use. The rules are (pick one):
1) All the letters for each instance of “CTHULHU must be in a straight line. No turns are allowed. Or,
2) You are allowed to take one diagonal turn in mid-word. Each instance of “CTHULHU” does not have to be in a straight line. Or,
3) You are allowed to take multiple diagonal turns in each instance of “CTHULHU.” The word does not have to be in a straight line.
Rule 1 is easy. I haven’t taken the time to figure out the answer using Rule 2. A mathematician would probably have to calculate the answer using Rule 3.
